Drawing Futures

Drawing Futures

I was co-editor of Drawing Futures: Speculations in Contemporary Drawing for Art and Architecture, a 288-page compendium of drawn projects and academic papers published by UCL Press and Riverside Architectural press in conjunction with the inaugural Drawing Futures conference held at the Bartlett School of Architecture in November 2016. The book brought together the work of 64 different artists, architects and designers in one compendium of cutting-edge drawing practice, from a call that produced over 400 responses. In addition, Drawing Futures featured the work of a range of influential figures invited to contribute including concept art legend Syd Mead, Madelon Vriesendorp, artist Pablo Bronstein, educators and architects Neil Spiller and Hsinming Fung as well as Drawing Architecture Studio.

I also contributed a text in collaboration with Sandra Youkhana discussing our You+Pea project entitled Tokyo Backup City, where we discussed our research into Japanese arcade 'medal games' as catalysts for urban design. More details on that project can be found on our You+Pea website.
